LOCK BLOCK

The Lock-Block system

A type of block called lock-block was created in 1983. This kind of block achieved stable and fast dry stacking, it is a great system that could be used in a lot of applications.

Features and benefits that are common to lock-block applications:
  • Tight crisp appearance and good seismic stability
  • Self aligning interlocking key that speeds assembly and allows easy straight stacking
  • Broad range of accessory shapes
  • Two sizes to suit excavator lifting capacities
  • Range of textures
  • Self draining design that relieves hydrostatic pressure
  • Self supporting in most soils, eliminating the requirement for poured concrete footings
  • Compatible with Geo-Textures to form MSE (Mechanically Stabilized Earth) walls
  • Easy customizing at low cost due to in-house form fabrication
  • Safe to lift

These blocks were cast by whatever labour was available on site. The producers still produce thousands of these utility grade blocks at various locations for use in non-technical applications such as material containment bins, flood control diking, low walls and pre-load applications.

In the beginning, the lock-block system was used to build permanent civil works such as retaining walls. The shapes of lock-block were increasing and the lock-block brand became a complete structural building system.
